The Board members of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants are pleased to introduce Hajime Asaoka as new AHCI Candidate.
Ensconced far away from the traditional home of watchmaking in his Tokyo workshop, Hajime’s route to horlogic excellence is all the more remarkable because unlike most watchmakers of distinction, his skills have been entirely self-taught.
His art deco inspired Tourbillon 1 piece accentuates his vision, ingenuity and insistence on perfection and features his own unique design on the classic gravity-defying tourbillon complication.
Creation is at the heart of Hajime’s being, for not only does he make every component for his watches himself, if the need arises he will also make the machine or tool he needs to make the components!
Proposed to the Board by Philippe Dufour and fellow countryman Masahiro Kikuno, the members of the AHCI extend a warm welcome to Hajime and we wish him every success in the years to come.
